Wow! That is an impressive record! I think I find about half of the
letterboxes that I have gone after--and that is only an estimate, but
I usually go out looking for 3-8 boxes and I will come home with only
1-4 stamps. And I'm sure that alot of it has to do with me. I'm not
interpreting the clues properly or I'm reading the compass wrong.

Also, if I think I have the right spot...I'll look around for about
15-30 minutes and if I don't find anything I give up. And I don't go
digging around (destroying the environment) If I can't find it after
turning over a few rocks or moving around some bark and leaves..then
I just let it go.
